英语可以说 I don’t think so，也可以说 I think not，但对于 hope，则只有一种说法，即说 I hope not，不能说 I don’t hope not。请问专家老师，还有哪些动词是和 hope 用法一样的啊！麻烦归纳一下，谢谢您！

这个问题与否定转移有关。对于可以将否定从句宾语从转移到主句的动词来说，均可以有两种简略说法，如你说的I don’t think so 和 I think not（前者比后者更普通）；而对于不可以将否定从句宾语从转移到主句的动词来说，则只有后面一种简略说法。动词 hope 就是不可以将否定从句宾语从转移到主句的动词，所以只有后面一种简略说法——I hope not。这类动词比较少，另一个比较常见的动词是 guess。如：

So you won’t be going there again?—I guess not.

另外一个类似的用法是I’m afraid not：

Can you come to our party?—I’m afraid not.

hope通常是不用于否定转移的。如：

－Will he come today? 今天他会来吗？

－I hope so. (= I hope that he will come today.) 我希望他今天来。

－I hope not. (= I hope that he will not come today.) 我希望他今天不来。（否定从句谓语）

－I don’t hope that he will come today. 我不希望他今天来。（否定主句谓语）

△间或有人将最后一句写成“I don’t hope so.”，但这样的表达在英语国家并不常见，建议不要模仿。

▲正如唐老师所说，这类动词比较少。另外，be afraid也属同类用法。如：

－ Will the teacher come to our party?老师会来参加我们的派对吗？

－ I’m afraid so. 恐怕是的。（so = the teacher will come to our party）

－ I’m afraid not. 恐怕不会。（not = the teacher will not come to our party）

如果用I’m not afraid that the teacher will come to our party.“我不怕老师来参加我们的派对”，意义就完全不同了。
