比较级能修饰代词吗（涉及be more of a...than...）

He is more of a sportsman than his brother.

more 在上句中应该是代词吧，为什么比较结构会修饰一个类似名词或代词的词？谢谢老师的精彩解答。

He is more of a sportsman than his brother. 他比他哥哥/弟弟更有运动天赋。

英语中有一个句型：sb is much of sth. 某人具有某方面的素质/天赋。much作为不定代词本身是有比较级的。当说主语比另一个人在某方面更有天赋时，就会出现这个句子。

He is much/something/nothing of a sportsman.他很有/有些/根本没有运动天赋。

=He has much/something/nothing of a sportsmean in him.
