英语可以说1800s, 1900s, 2000s吗？——回答是肯定的。那它们表示什么意思呢？根据不同的语境，它们有两种意思：

▲意思一：the 2000s, the 1900s, the1800s, the 1700s, the 1600s, the 1500s, the 1400s, the 1300s…分别表示“21世纪”“20世纪”“19世纪”“18世纪”“17世纪”“16世纪”“15世纪”“14世纪”……《韦氏高阶英语词典》的hundred词条有例如下：

The bridge was built sometime in the sixteen-hundreds. [=the 1600s; the 17th century]

很显然《韦氏高阶英语词典》认为：the sixteen-hundreds = the 1600s = the 17th century，即 the 1600s 的意思就是“17世纪”。

▲意思二：the 2000s, the 1900s, the 1800s, the 1700s, the 1600s, the 1500s, the 1400s, the 1300s…分别表示“21世纪头10年”“20世纪头10年”“19世纪头10年”“18世纪头10年”“17世纪头10年”“16世纪头10年”“15世纪头10年”“14世纪头10年”……《朗文英语语法》附录第47.4.1节有这样一句：

We refer to 1900-1910 as the nineteen hundreds.

即《朗文英语语法》认为 the nineteen hundreds 指的是1900-1910年（即20世纪前10年），而根据《韦氏高阶英语词典》，the nineteen hundreds 指的就是 the 1900s，所以 the 1900s 表示“20世纪前10年”。
