这里的for whatever reason 后面是省略了什么？是 is 还是 it is？

单独加 is 肯定是错的。应该是 it is。其实更应该是 it may be。

带有让步意义的状语，从句正式语体常用虚拟语气，即使用情态动词may。很少用will。

whatever 为限定词，修饰后面reason 因此后面却主语+系动词(it is/it will be /it may be )
