介词of用法的疑问

I couldn't bear the pain of the bites（bites在原文指被咬的伤口）

of前后的名词应该形成一个从属关系，而这里的pain是属于“我”的，那么这里的of是否用错了呢？该不该换成from？

of 本身就有 from 的意思，表示原因。没错，也不用换成 from。

The man died of cancer. 此句中的 of 就相当于 from。表示原因。

介词of 等于resulted from bites, as a result of .用来说疼痛是由什么产生的,或者用来描述来自哪方面的疼痛
