请问both + 名词不能作定语吗

both用作形容词时,作“两个,俩”解,只用作定语,是前位限定词,常与复数名词连用。

both用作形容词与定冠词、指示代词、形容词性物主代词、名词所有格等中位限定词连用时，应置于其前，而不能置于其后。

在both之后接名词时用不用定冠词均可。Both women were French. = Both the women were French.

解答如下：

带有介词短语做后置定语修饰前面的名词时候，介词后面名词必须有限定词加以特指，不能表示泛指和介词of去修饰前面名词.

名词/代词/数词+of+名词，介词后面名词通常需要特指，尤其是介词前面的为代词/数词时。of前面的名词可以不用特指，也可以特指，但是有所不同。

students of the school（这个学校的学生）

the students of the school(这个学校所有学生）

a leg of an elephant 一头大象的一条腿

both/all/one /two/three of them/us(数词）

both/all/one /two/three of the boys（代词）

名词+of the/one's/these/those/both/all+名词

(1)a friend of both girls

(2)a friend of the two girls

(3)a friend of these girls.

(4)a friend of mine

(5)one of my friends

(6)one of us/them

(7)a friend of theirs

(8)one of their friends.

【更正】“of both + 名词”作定语，名词前无须加定冠词。例如：

the interests of both countries = the interests of the two countries

我的原意是：both + 名词时，不加定冠词；two + 名词时，要加定冠词。both 本身就是指代“两个特定的人或事物”，是说话双方知道或前文提到的；而two 只表示数字“两个”，是泛指。

不知怎么回事，竟然写错了，特此更正并致歉！
