what与where引导从句时的区别

老师您好！

When you are reading, make a note of _______ you think is of great importance. 这里的答案是what.为啥？不能是 where 吗？我译成这样(后半句)在你认为很重要的地方。那就用where呀？再问一下，how引导的定语从句有什么特殊的吗？

how也可以引导定语从句。《薄冰英语惯用法词典》第394页指出：“ how 用作关系副词，可指方式或方法，它的先行词是 the way，有时可省略。如不用 how，也可用 in which 替代。例如：This is (the way ) how it happened . 这就是此事如何发生的经过。/ That was (the way ) how he used to do . ( = That was the way in which he used to do .) 那就是他以前做事的方法。”“注：在当代英语中，较少与连用，有人甚至认为是错误的。实际上，的用法是古就有之，只不过现在很少用了。”

句意：当你阅读的时候，把你认为是重要的东西记下来。1) make a note of把……记下来。2) what引导整个名词性从句作介词of的宾语，且在从句中作表语从句的主语。即：You think something is of great importance. → what you think is of great importance. 3) where在从句中没有相应的位置。4) how不能引导定语从句。
