关于方位表达的疑问（涉及是否接壤以及在范围之内与之外）

1.The Ming Tombs are located about 50 km to the northwest of Beijing. 十三陵位于北京西北50公里处。

一般来说用A is to the northwest of B表示A与B不接壤，仅是A在B的西北部，同时相隔一段距离。

那么这里，十三陵肯定是北京西北的一部分啊，为什么不用in呢？我该如何理解？

2.There was a big battle at the north of the Liaodong Peninsula. 在辽东半岛的北边有一场大战。

这里用的at the north of ，把方位名词短语当成一个点来对待，那么这里提到的战争是发生在the north of the Liaodong Peninsula辽东半岛的北部（辽东半岛范围内）？还是辽东半岛范围外？还是与辽东半岛接壤的北边某地呢？

问题1： to the northwest 指西北方向，而且隔一段距离, 所以指某个范围之外。这里之所以用to, 是因为Beijing 在说话人看来，指the city of Beijing. 十三陵在郊外，不在市区。如果你用in, 也不错，说明你认为北京的范围包括郊区，郊县。

问题2. at the north of the Liaodong Peninsula 意思和in the north of the Liaodong Peninsula 差不多。只是in 表示范围，at表示某个点，因为是战役，所以说话人把它看成了一个点。当然你也可以用in. 都是正确的。

解答：距离北京西北50公里的地方已经超出北京市所管辖范围，因此用介词to。

解答：表示辽东半岛的北部交界处一个点的位置。

(2)表示方位位于之内用介词in

(3)表示方位接壤处用介词 on

美国位于太平洋东岸。(相邻关系)

(4)表示方位位于某一点用介词at
