1.a lot有副词性，可用作状语；a lot也有名词性，可用作主语、宾语、表语等。如：

(1)a lot 具有副词词性，一般用来修饰，动词，形容词，副词原级/以及比较级,修饰动词，意思是“十分”、“非常”，相当于very much.

I can learn a lot about Chinese history.

I like Chinese action movies a lot.

我非常喜欢中国的动作片。

They went out a lot to the Cafe Royal or the The Ivy.
