这句话是哈利波特里面的,no sooner...than不是一...就的意思吗,但是这句这么理解好像不通啊.然后就看不懂了.

我认为，此翻译不妥。这句话应该这样理解：
Snape, of course, would no sooner let them play games in class than adopt Harry.
【翻译】当然，斯内普决不会让他们在课堂玩游戏，正如他决不会收养哈利一样。
【分析】no sooner...than...结构，在表达人的意愿时，常常跟would连用。这种结构把than前后的两个动作予以全部否定。也就是说，“既不愿做...，也不愿做...”，“决不会做...，正如不会做...一样”。又如：
I would no sooner stand than sit. 我既不愿意站着也不愿意坐着。
But being an honest girl, she would no sooner cheat on an exam than tell lies. 但作为一个诚实的姑娘，她决不会在考试中作弊，正如她不会说谎一样。
Expert下面的这个说法，更是不可理喻：
