时态疑问I applied…but they won’t…(前后不一致)

I applied to join the club, but they won’t accept me.

请问专家：这句话的时态有问题吗？为什么前面用一般过去时，而后面用一般将来时？

这很正常，因为“我请求加入俱乐部”是过去的一个动作，而“他们不接纳我”是过去、现在、乃至将来的一个情况。所以，造成前后两个分句时态不一致。根据语义需要，这样的例句较为常见：

I told her to clean the window, but she still can’t do it.

I told her to clean the window, but she won’t do it.

以上will not 不是表示将来时态，而是情态动词否定形式表示一种意愿，意思”不愿意“

但就算是情态动词，也应该是用 wouldn't 吧，而不是用 won't 吧？
