看了刘老师的解答，深受启发，我说一点粗浅的想法，敬请三位老师指正：

本题的关键是单词“know”，“知道”与“出生”是同时发生的，所以刘老师说应选现在分词knowing作伴随状语。

黎老师的例句“succeed”， “成功”与“出生”并非同时发生，“出生”在前，“成功”在后。

何素秀老师讲过一道例题，与本题类似，其中 “hope”与“know”类似，“希望”与“跑”是同时发生的。

何素秀老师的一篇文章《原创易错非谓语动词考题赏析》：

He ran as fast as he could ____to catch the bus.

A. hope                  B. to hope

C. hoping                D. hoped

此题的最佳答案不是B，而是C，其中的现在分词短语 hoping to catch the bus 用作伴随状语，即一边跑一边希望能赶上早班车。

Li Ping was born in 1988. 

李平生于一九八八年。 
(3) be born + of+（名词），表示"从......产生" ”出生于）
This invention was born of need. 

这项发明是因需要而产生的。

He was born of German parents.
他的父母是德国人。

Her socialist beliefs were born of a hatred of injustice.
她的社会主义信念来自她对社会上不公平现象的痛恨。

He was born of plebeian origins.
他出身平民。

She was born of humble parentage.

(4)be born + in, into或to，表示"降生到某家庭" 
He was born in a worker's family. 

他出生在一个工人家庭。 
In 1867 Madam Curie was born into a teacher's family. 

1867年居里夫人出生在一个教师家庭。 
(5) be born + with， 表示"天赋；命运" ”生而具有“
He was born with a good memory. 

他生来记性就好。

He was born with a squint.
他先天斜视。

She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth.
她生来富贵。

Not everyone was born with such endowments as you.
并非所有的人生来都像你这样有天赋。

He was born with a slight deformity of the feet which made him limp.

(6)be born+ to do, 表示"生而为......；生来就是"
