like many contemporary peoples 作方式状语。若是同位语的话，必须是对等的成分，介词短语怎么能跟后面的名词（men and women）同位呢？

我之前说过，状语的具体细分主要看表意功能。介词短语like ...，意为“像......那样”，用在句中修饰动词，一般作方式状语。例如：

Like other fans she was curious to meet him. 像其他歌迷那样，她急切与他会面。

An idea popped into his mind like a flash. 他头脑里突然闪过一个念头。

He talks like a parrot and just repeats what he heard. 他只是鹦鹉学舌，拾人牙慧罢了。

I managed my whole farm like a clock. 我把我整个庄园管理得井井有条。

I would work like a dog to make good. 为达到目的，我要拼命干。
