be as bad中as的用法

下面这段话中笑脸后面这句话as的用法是怎样的?是词典中的这个用法吗:prep. used to say what someone thinks or says a person or thing is

eg. The problem is regarded as serious.

eg. The result of last week's election will be seen as a victory for the right-wing government.

Romeo was a stout elderly gentleman, with corked eyebrows, a husky tragedy voice, and a figure like a beer-barrel. [em01]Mercutio was almost as bad. He was played by the low-comedian, who had introduced gags of his own and was on most friendly terms with the pit. They were both as grotesque as the scenery, and that looked as if it had come out of a country-booth.

句中的 Mercutio was almost as bad 其实是一个省略句,其完整形式为 Mercutio was almost as bad as RomeoMercutio 几乎跟 Romeo 一样糟)。其中的 as 表示“与……相同的程度”,与大家最熟悉的 He is as tall as you 中第一个 as 的用法是一样的。

根据句子前面对 Romeo 的描述:a stout elderly gentleman(胖胖的老绅士),with corked eyebrows(用软木炭涂得黑黑的眉毛),a husky tragedy voice(破锣似的悲悲戚戚的嗓音),a figure like a beer-barrel(体形像个啤酒桶),可以看出,这些都是对Romeo 一些“不好”(bad)的描述,而后面对Mercutio的描述也大多是一些“不好”(bad)的信息,故作者用了 Mercutio was almost as bad (as Romeo) 来衔接。
