如果是half of…作主语，它后面的谓语用单数还是用复数与half of后的词语有关。如：

但如果是单独使用的half呢？它用作主语时，后面的谓语动词用单数还是用复数？

如果是half of…作主语，它后面的谓语用单数还是用复数应该根据half of后的词语的单复数来决定。例如：
Half of it was gone.
Half of them were gone.
Half of ten is five. 10的一半是5。
在英国英语中，Half后接集合名词作主语时，有时谓语动词用单数或复数都可以。例如：
Half the audience was [were] bored . 半数的听众都感到厌烦。
