such…that…与such…when…的用法区别

一道练习题：

I got such a shock _______ I saw myself in the mirror.

A. that B. when C. as D. while

参考答案是B，但为什么不是A呢？这不是考查such…that…吗？怎么用such…when…呢？

此题答案确实应选B。句中的 when 表示“当……时候”，所以 I got such a shock when I saw myself in the mirror. 的意思是：当我在镜子里看到自己时，我大为震惊。

注意：英语虽然有 such…that…和such…as…的搭配，但此题既不是考查 such…that…，也不是考查 such…as…，因为用它们套用此句，句子意思不通。

这个题的答案确实是B，首先可以排除D，因为 while 后面通常不接 saw 这样的瞬间词。

such…that… “如此……以致”，that 后面接结果状语从句，意义不通。

such…as…“像……这些（这类），as 引导定语从句，意义也不通。另外，在这个句中，因为有了 such，避免歧义的情况下，as 不当作“当……时候”。所以，只有 when 引导时间状语从句。
