▲在“a + (表示容量、计量概念的)名词+ of + 名词（不可数名词或可数名词复数）”结构中，如果该形容词，在意思上是修饰最后的那个中心名词，英美人在习惯上经常放在第一个(表示容量、计量概念的)名词前，也可放在中心名词之前。例如：
a good piece of news 与 a piece of good news
an important piece of news 与 a piece of important news
an interesting piece of news 与a piece of interesting news
an exciting piece of news 与a piece of exciting news
a huge pair of eyes 与 a pair of huge eyes
an oily old pair of jeans 与 a pair of oily old jeans
a clean pair of pants 与 a pair of clean pants
▲但是，如果这个形容词是修饰“容量、计量”概念的名词，而不是修饰后面的中心名词，则必须放在第一个名词之前。
a big / small bag of corn
a big / small box of sweets
a big / small bottle of wine
a big / small cup of milk
a big / small glass of beer
a big / small basin of water
a big / small pile of bricks
a big / small basket of fruit

此外，在 a pair of cotton tights 与 a cotton pair of tights中，不可说：a cotton pair of tights，因为 cotton 是名词，不是形容词。它是材料，与 tights 密切相关，所以只能说 a pair of cotton tights。
根据我说的第二条规则，a large piece of net（正确），a piece of large net（错误），因为 large 不是修饰 net 的，而是修饰 piece 的。
▲两种情况再分别举例讲解：
第一种情况：a good piece of news 与 a piece of good news
good 显然是修饰中心词 news，说明 news 的性质（好坏），在此情况下，其位置既可以放在 piece 之前，也可以放在 news 之前。
第二种情况：a big / small cup of milk
big 或 small 是修饰 cup 的，说明其“大小”，不可能也无法修饰 milk。所以，只能放在 cup 之前。
