还是关于终止性动词与一段时间连用

上次老师们讨论了终止性动词与一段时间连用，并指出其后的时间段是表示“目的”，比如He has come for a week. 指的是“他来了”，目的是要“呆一周”。但是下面这句就不好解释了：

I saw him for just an instant.

这句不能解释为：“我看见他”，目的是“只看见一会儿”吧！请专家老师作进一步的分析。谢谢！

I saw him for just an instant. 刹那间我看到了他。
for just an instant可以当作短语，“刹那间”，形容时间短，相当于immediately。

I saw him for just an instant. 此句出自麦克米兰词典。这位网友之所以有疑问是因为您混淆了 for aninstant 的两种用法：
1.表时段= for a very little moment of time 一会儿/ 瞬刻
She met his eyes for an instant, butwas immediately constrained to give all her attention to the scene now going forward. 她与他的目光接触了瞬间，立即便把全部注意力集中在眼前正在进行的场面中去了。
2.表动作的突然性及迅速性= almost immediately & all of a sudden 刹那之间 / 须臾之际/ 顷刻
For an instant, I felt a thrill of genuine fear,raising the hair on my arms. 那一瞬间，我感到一阵真真切切的恐惧所带来的颤栗，不由得手臂上柳毛倒竖。
I saw him for just an instant. 刹那间我看到了他。
