▲spend…in doing sth与spend…on doing sth都可以表示“花费金钱做某事”，通常可以互换使用。例如：
He spends a lot of money on entertaining friends. (张道真主编《现代英语用法词典》p.1455)
He spends his whole life in looking after the poor. ( 同上，p.1456)
▲表示“花费时间做某事”时，spend…in doing sth 和 spend…on sth 在语义上有所区别。例如：
He spent half a year on writing a short play. 他把半年工夫花费在写一个短剧上。
He spent half a year in writing a short play. 他费了半年写一个短剧。
