关于句中used的疑问
1.use指使用，这里用被动形态used 这种分词结构作后置定语，修饰前面的the language, 可译为“使用的语言”，2.一般情况过去分词或者现在分词都可以简化理解为形容词词性，例如 the living things , a running man, some fallen leaves等，这里面的分词都是定语成分。后面的actually可以理解修饰句子的副词，为“事实上”，...

过去完成时的用法
处于过去参考时间线，事情发生在过去的过去用过去完成。For a generation 应该是指过去的一代人，而persuade动作发生在过去的过去。不知道这么理解对不对
