插入语中的省略
我不认为省略什么。黑体字是补充修正flamboyant, 如果加上that he is 纯属画蛇添足，反而不符合英语表达习惯,因为前面flamboyant 是个形容词，shameless前如果加上that he is 就不对称了。黑体部分，类似于or rather shameless.

赞同蒋老师的分析。我对这个用法的理解是be positioned to do 是be in a position to do 变化而来。英语中，be in a position to do sth = be able to do sth. 所以这里可以理解为be able to，这样比较简单易懂。

飞鱼网友还真够仔细，佩服！我看这篇文章的时候都没有注意到。这里应该有冠词，我查了原文也没有（美国《读者文摘》杂志的一篇文章），应该是原文漏印了。看来高考命题老师也没注意到。

nose前面为什么没有冠词也没有用复数
道理很简单，因为小兔子只有一个鼻子，前面因为和复数 eyes 共用 icing 所以要省略不定冠词。这里的 nose 当然是可数名词了。

问题是你偏偏要这么翻译，你可以不这样翻译啊。你这样翻译：“罗伯特和我走进了客厅，在那儿我们聊了几个小时。” 你要翻译成符合汉语表达习惯的句子。翻译的时候要把英语思维转变为汉语思维。Who are you? 你不能翻译成：谁是你”吧？
