一、素材引用：
1. Child as he was，...原出处是狄更斯的作品。
2. Boy as he was, he was chosen king. 这句原出处选自“A
Short History of the English People”第80页。
Poutsma的著作中也有这句（A
Grammar of Late Modern English Part 2 The parts of speech-Section 2-The verb
and the particles第788页）。虽然是上世纪二三十年代，但是确实是真实存在过。
3. Lover of towns as I am, I realize
that I owe a debt to my early country life.(爱尔兰文摘1966年第87卷)
4.在1971年版的“Modern
English Syntax”第73页描述了这种结构后有这样一句话：
A predicative noun or
adjective (and occasionally an object) may come first in the clause.但没有举这样的例子。
5. Michael, fool as/that he was,
completely ruined the dinner
('... since he was a fool, being a
fool...')
这一句是引自Quirk的1972版的“A
Grammar of contemporary English”第750页，表原因或是评论。这句话在1985版上删除了，取而代之的是这句（p1107）：
