(1)作“to be so upset about something that you feel unable to accept it or let it happen SYN can’t stand 接受不了某事”解时,构成“can’t bear doing something”。例如:
I couldn’t bear not seeing him again.我不能忍受再也见不到他。
(2)作“to dislike something or someone very much, often so that they make you feel annoyed or impatient 忍受不了某事/某人”解时,构成“can’t bear somebody doing something” 和“can’t bear doing something”。例如:
He can’t bear people smoking while he’s eating.他受不了有人在他吃饭的时候吸烟。
