第三本词典我参考的是其英文原版的光盘，明显可以说明陈根花老师提供的那个英汉双解版本并没有弄错，原版就是如此！
大家讨论的问题我总结一下无非是以下2个问题：
1为什么都是牛津的系列还是同一个例句而说法不同，有的是用的 people’s lives，而有的是用 peoples’ lives？是不是字典搞错了？
2如果不是字典搞错了，那这是怎么回事，“凡哥英语”网友的解释，我个人认为还是很合理的，只是我的疑问是：研究不同种族，不同国别之间人的对比，那么我的遣词造句就会使用 peoples’ lives. 这个说法有无其他例句支撑或是说法支撑？
于是我搜索了大量的词典和原版书籍，结果如下：
1.Collins
COBUILD English Language Dictionary by John Sinclair（interference词条）

注意这本词典有第二版和第三版，但是第二，三版这个例句被删除了，换成另一个了。我个人觉得是John
Sinclair误用了。
2. Oxford
Advanced Learners Dictionary第7版(stake词条)

lives are at stake.
注意这个例句在第9版中改过来了，请看：

整句话的意思不可能是强调种族。这一句明显是第七版误用了，到第九版就改过来了，这是一个很好的佐证。但是最前面提到的那一句为啥到了第九和第十版还没有改过来，值得深思。

注意看第3、4条，很明显，第六版就改了。

这一例很典型，说的就是种族，也就是说，如果真要表示“不同种族的人们的......”可以用peoples’…来表示。
蒋红秀老师同样在这本词典中找到“（见该词典第2078页），认为要说people’s lives，不能用peoples’ lives”，这个我也找到了，只是这个说法说服力不足。
6.英语搭配大辞典英汉对照（小日本编著）

仔细揣摩这个例句，很有说服力，这里谈到的是“民族”。
同样是这个小日本编著的词典”meaning”词条下又有这一句：
